Mindful Living in the Adirondack Alps

Who would have thought that after cooking for 20 years in my restaurant that I would continuously be more satisfied with eating my own dinners – not because my cooking gets better per se – but because I am happier about the ingredients that I choose and the preparation that I am becoming more knowledgeable about.

Getting Ready for the Sustainable Festival

By Cathy Hohmeyer

The biggest event my husband and I hold on our lakeside resort is our annual craftfest. THIS year - we have transformed it to a Sustainable festival - we still include the quality crafters but we are hoping to provide our area with an opportunity to showcase the good and sustainable - in food, crafts, agriculture and healing arts, etc. The transition is timely - and seems to be in high interest. Our area is seasonal - people who live here must love it or leave it! and many choose to love it. My thoughts to all of you and the earth this weekend and beyond. Gotta lot of work to do to pull this off - weather looks great and our Weston A Price booth is pulling together! Will report after “the show” We will see what is “mindful in the Adirondacks”!!

  1. Oh, wow….wish I could be there, Cathy. Not only does the area sound beautiful, but this festival sounds educational and I always love learning something new…

Have a good time…and enjoy it yourself. What a gift to the locals and those visiting!

  2. Please let us know how it went - sounds really good
I wish we had that kind of festival here.
